Born in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Sarah Hatch began tracing cartoons as soon as she could hold a pencil and was drawing and painting constantly. She attended The Atlanta School of Art under the mentorship of Rita King where she developed the intuitive impulses that guided her hand. Following a brief residency in Greece, she began exhibiting in arts festivals, cafés, and restaurants, nationwide. She enrolled in The Portfolio Center commercial art school in Atlanta. However, after 6 months she quit school, establishing once and for all her instinct for creating original works of art. In 1985, she opened Alias Gallery. In 1991, AIRI, Artists in Residence International, sponsored her for an exhibition in Erlangen, Germany. Upon her return, she was commissioned by Chateau Elan winery to create a one-of-a-kind Christmas wine label for their signature wine.
In 1995, she moved to Buford, Georgia to recover from an auto accident and joined The Buford Artists’ Colony. She also began volunteering for the Brain Injury Association of Georgia’s annual conferences, creating a hands-on art room for conference attendees. Her painting styles range from Impressionism to the Present and Artists Basic Skills, and she has enjoyed over 25 years of teaching experience.
